A "Hit" is the most basic unit of measurement. Every time any file is requested from your server, it counts as a hit. "Files" refers to the number of successful requests that returned something other than an error. If a file is successfully delivered to a visitor (like an image or a web page), it's counted here. This number is usually slightly lower than hits because it excludes failed requests such as 404 errors.
"Pages" tracks how many actual web pages have been accessed. This includes files with extensions like .html, .php, .asp, etc. It ignores images, scripts, and other auxiliary files. For many webmasters, the pages count is more meaningful than hits because it better represents actual user engagement.
"Visits" estimates the number of individual browsing sessions. "KBytes" represents the amount of data transferred from your server, measured in kilobytes. It includes all files sent to visitors - pages, images, scripts, downloads, etc. Monitoring bandwidth usage is important, especially if your hosting plan has data limits or if you're trying to optimize site performance.
Each of these metrics tells a different part of the story. Hits can be inflated by complex web pages; files give a sense of successful content delivery; pages focus on actual page views; visits estimate user sessions; sites approximate the number of users; and KBytes show server load and bandwidth usage.

For example, users behind proxy servers or NAT may appear as a single site (IP address), and bots can artificially inflate hits and visits. While it may not offer the deep behavioral insights of modern analytics platforms, it provides a reliable technical overview of server activity that's invaluable for system administrators and technically inclined webmasters.
